Despite being from the second smallest North American market, the Roughriders have persisted as the third oldest professional gridiron team. Being established in 1910 as the Regina Rugby Club, the Roughriders have enjoyed an intensely loyal following from their fans, the “Rider Nation”, considered one of the rowdiest and most loyal fans in pro sports. Rider Nation will stake more than their money on the Roughriders despite their 4-15 Grey Cup record.
However, online gamblers should take note of the up-and-down nature of the franchise although recent signings mean they are again on the upswing.

Saskatchewan Roughriders Record
Despite existing since 1910, the Roughriders moniker only came about in 1946. In 2013, the Roughriders (with their fans) achieved their lifelong dream of winning the Grey Cup at home in Regina following a couple of heartbreakers. 2016 will also mark the official opening of the New Mosaic Stadium, which will replace the old Mosaic Stadium and will be ready for the 2017 season.
The Roughriders are almost the opposite of their rival, the Stampeders. They tend to just do enough to get into the postseason but usually over perform in this spot and make it deep. The Roughriders are 5-1 against the Stampeders in their last six playoff meetings. Against their most bitter rival, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Roughriders tend to split their meetings regardless of either team’s record. They are 6-6 in the Banjo Bowl against them.
The Roughriders had a very dynamic offense before losing dual-threat quarterback, Darian Durant for the entire season in 2015. He wasn’t the only injury to the team as other key players especially on defense were either lost for the season or hampered by injuries resulting in a league worst points surrendered. With a lot of roster changes and a new coach in Grey Cup winner, Chris Jones, the Roughriders will look to get back to their winning ways.
The Roughriders were crushed by injuries in 2015 resulting in their worst record since 1999 (3-15). With new head coach, Jones and several key additions (and subtractions), the Roughriders are expected to contend for the Grey Cup again at best and at worst, have another disastrous season. Like most teams dealing with a lot of roster turnover, it’s difficult to predict exactly how well this new team fits together.
