Chicago White Sox Record

The White Sox won their first World Series in 1906 against their crosstown rivals, the Cubs. Their second came in 1917. They would lose the championship game in 1919 and 1959 and only make three playoff appearances after. 2005 marked their best season in franchise history where they not only ended their 88-year title drought but also set their second best regular season win total with 99. 2008 is the last time they made the playoffs.

Since establishing the AL Central division, the White Sox have only finished last once (in 2013). In 2015, they finished fourth but had an abysmal 42.1 percent winning rate against their division including winning less than 37 percent of their games against the Royals and Twins. They only had one winning series and it was against the Cleveland Indians who finished just four games ahead of them.

The White Sox have been regularly known for their strong defense. Alongside Cy Young contender, Chris Sale, the ChiSox added the dependable Mat Latos and all-star third baseman, Todd Frazier. They also replaced Alexei Ramirez with the aging but capable, Jimmy Rollins at shortstop. The White Sox didn’t add many high profile players but fixed the lingering holes on the team and now boast one of the deepest rosters in all of baseball.

The White Sox were considered World Series contenders after the slew of high-profile moves they made a couple of seasons ago but they didn’t quite live up to the hype. But now with a few seasons developing chemistry alongside the continuing development of ace pitcher, Chris Sale, the ChiSox are not only frontrunners to make the postseason but maybe win the World Series again.
