The Washington Nationals were established in 1969 as the Montreal Expos, the first major league team in Canada as an expansion franchise. The Expos only made the playoffs once. The best team they fielded had its season cut short by the 1994 strike-shortened season. The Expos moved to Washington in 2005 giving the city its first major league team since the Senators left in 1971. The “Nats” are one of only two franchises to never play in the World Series.
A status they are looking to change soon. On the heels of their most successful seasons, gamblers now take the Nats as one of the more solid betting options in the majors.

Washington Nationals Record
The Expos didn’t enjoy a lot of success to say the least. They made their only playoff appearance in the strike season of 1981 and lost in the NLCS. They were on their way to their best season in 1994 but another strike cut the season short. The franchise moved in 2005 and ended the 31-year playoff draught when they returned in 2012 after setting a franchise record for wins. They last made the playoffs in 2014.
The Nationals were the doormats of the division for the majority of the franchise. Between 1995 and 2010 for instance, the franchise finished above the bottom two only twice. They have since evolved as a much stronger entity and set franchise records beginning in 2012. In 2015, they still finished with 57.9 winning percent against their rivals despite a rather disappointing year.
Despite losing a lot of key players, the Nationals still have what it takes to win a World Series. The team boasts one of the most intimidating pitching lineup with Cy Young winner, Max Scherzer and hype machine, Stephen Strasburg. The offense is either great or spectacular depending how good MVP, Bryce Harper is. The superstar finally broke out and is now in a prime position to help his stacked team win it all.
It’s World Series or bust for the Nationals. The franchise is with its best team now and the window is rapidly closing as the team’s makeup faces impending change. The team lost a handful of star players and are still considerable favorites to win the division and make its first World Series trip. Anything less than both will likely lead to a lot of disappointment and some changes.
